Woen Giffen nurtures a path towards ecological and economic accessibility for poor and working class communities in southern Appalachia. With the help of friends he has woven a years in sustainable cemetery stewardship, ROAR’s Free Firewood Program in Madison county NC, and various community survival projects, into a path that see’s thriving in our forests as interdependent process between species, place, and perspectives. Woen looks forward to building capacity for FCFC to create accessible ways for the people of Western North Carolina to live in integral ways with the forest.
